LIN has had many accomplishments, some of which include:

  • The organisation and delivery of 2 successful annual conferences (180 people attended LIN 2008 whilst 173 people attended LIN 2009)
  • The organisation, roll out and evaluation of 32 half day and 3 full day national workshops
  • The capture of content and its subsequent sharing on the www.lin-ireland.com website (i.e. presentations, notes, related URLs, podcasts etc.)
  • The editing and publication (in html and pdf format) of 14 editions of the LIN newsletter
  • The development of a flexible P.G. Cert. academic model
  • The support of the authoring of seven Level 9 ten ECTs academic professional development modules (subsequent to their evaluation after pilot rollout, they will be available to other institutes).

These APDs are as follows :

APD Lead Authoring IoT
ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION WIT
LEARNING AND TEACHING IN HIGHER EDUCATION AIT
MENTORING WIT
ENGAGING IN EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH PRACTICE IT SLIGO
FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT AND FEEDBACK CARLOW IT
TECHNOLOGY ENHANCED LEARNING LIT
ENQUIRY BASED LEARNING ITB

Additionally, DIT has validated the following two 5 ECTs APDs: Personal Development Planning & Reflection and Action & Evidence. LIN has also engaged in:

  • The piloting of and reporting on the adapted DIT P.G. Cert. (the results of which have informed aspects of the current LIN academic model)
  • The set up and maintenance of the LIN-Ireland website
  • The marketing, roll out and analysis of a national Teaching and Learning Survey
  • Presentations at various conferences and staff development days
  • The creation of national and international linkages
  • The sharing of resources with other projects
  • The sharing of information about programmes, successes etc. within the different IoTs through the EYE ON feature in the LIN newsletter
  • The design, development and delivery of a platform/portal of teaching and learning resources, which will staff to share content/links inter or intra institutionally with fellow staff and/or students. Users are also offered the opportunity to create a public and private space. Check out : http://www.iot-portal.ie

I want to thank you, the reader – who has been bombarded each month by the LIN newsletter, by alerts on upcoming workshops, notifications of call for abstracts and posters for the LIN conferences and requests to participate in surveys. And that’s probably only the half of it!!!

Without you, your enthusiasm, interest and willingness to participate, LIN would not have been the success which I believe it has been. So, a big thank you to you.

To those others who helped make LIN possible, I would like to thank :
